What do you think about the new pope?

I think he's okay.

He's now officially Pope Benedict XVI. I don't really like him that much. He used to be part of the Hitler Youth, but then again he did desert the German army and go placed in a POW camp and he didn't join the Nazis, he was conscripted. But he opposes homosexuality and contraception- basically anything with ethical issues. And he also says that Catholicism is the greatest religion above all. I also think he's way too conservative and is nowhere near as great as John Paul II. Way too controversial.
Everyone says he's just temporary- kind of like a caretaker, because he's the oldest Pope to be elected in over a century, he's 78. I'm not too enthusiatic, so we'll just have to wait and see.

I read about him the in the newspaper heaps, and I think he's way too ultra-conservative, but I heard that that's what the Catholic Church wants.

I put down that I've never heard of him eventhough I have. But there weren't many options to choose from. I think the new pope won't be very significant, sort of boring, I guess.

Actually, he's trying to fast track the previous Pope John Paul II to sainthood. So as a devout Catholic, I reckon, he's doing a pretty good job.

I don't really know too much about him, but apparently his car sold for about 750,000 euros or something.

Well just checking this thread and updating it a bit, the pope hasn't done much- or done much I've heard of.
