It's quite obvious that what children value nowadays, are not sports or recreational activities, but internet, studying, music and tv. But before you go off and blame childrne for being lazy, we have to lump some of the blame on their parents- the adults. The adults are the ones who are buying the food for their children at the supermarket, surely they must thing that a packet of chips isn't good enough for recess. And for lunch it's canteen food. We can't expect children to be wary of the dangers of obesity at such a young age- it is up to the parents to make the correct decision. Also, parents are puting such large amounts of pressure on their children to perform well academically. Many place them in outside of school tutoring institutions, to make sure they're up with the class or ahead of them. Intelligence now has been overvalued- what happened to health? life? self-esteem? Yes, it is important to study and learn, but children need to realise that they will have to do this for the next 10 odd years or so. What must be done to show that obesity can kill and it can kill from a very young age?

Well i think schools should take a harder stance. Fitness tests. Nurse health reports. Even if a child receive a disappointing result, you never know- the embarassment may convince their parents and most importantly them, that they're fat and they need to do something, otehrwise their life could be at risk when they grow older. It may casue psychological problems and maybe even threats of being an outcast, but once a child realises and overcome these issues, they will come out on top and realise that being heealthy is ebtter than being obese.

Yeah I think parents need to be wiser in making food decisions for their children and school need to crack down on fitness. Gym class in my day didn't do too much to get you in shape. I mean, they attempted, but not enough to actually make a difference.

I don't feel angry or disappointed, I just feel sad that in maybe about 10 years time, our own kids might turn out like that.

Yeah...
And what about school? They'll be failing their grades but at the same time, they'll be like some kind of super sport kid or something.
Just a joke. ;D
