 Fake Brands
« Thread Started on Apr 16, 2005, 12:59am »

Ok, some of you may know that fake clothing is everywhere. Especially sport brands like Nike and Adidas, but unfortunately you'll find fake clothing with designer labels. Clothes made form slave labour.
The other day I happened to come across a fake black denim Calvin Klein pair of jeans, it was around $85, I wasn't sure whether it was fake so I asked my friend who was with me at that time and I asked him whether he thought it was fake, because I was so black denim with the label Calvin Klein wasn't going to be that cheap, but I got a "I dunno". So how do you tell if a brand is fake? Is the clothing poorly made or is it fake because it's at a lower price?

Reminds me of Von Dutch. I always thought that if there was heaps of one product and it was made in a country like China or India, it would be fake. But you would also ahve to look at the design and especially the tag to evaluate whether it is fake or real.

But I don't need an apology for the lies...I want them to apologize for the truth.

A clothing/accessory is fake when it is not made by the designer's company. For example, a Louis Vuitton bag is fake if it's made by some knock-off company in China. There are a lot of ways to tell if your designer clothing/accessories or fake.

If it is supposedly designer clothing but it says it's made in India or China or Japan...or some poor country then it's fake. For example, a Prada bag made in China, DEFINATELY fake.

If it's a lot cheaper then you would assume then it's most likely fake.

If you buy it on Canal Street, it's fake. (Lol.)

If you buy it at one of those "designer" shopping parties in some suburban housewife's home for a low price, it's fake.

If you're buying a designer bag and it doesn't have the item number on a small leather tag on the inside, it's fake.

If you're buying it from a foriegn street vendor, it's fake.

If the logo is a different color or has a very slightly different design, it's fake.

If you're buying a purse and there is no duster bag with the logo printed on the outside, it's fake.

If you're buying jeans that come in sizes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... instead of 24, 25, 26, 27, 28... it's fake.

If a tag has appeared to be replaced by another on the inside, it's fake.

If you don't recognize the item from the designer's line, it's fake.

If it's not real leather (you can usually tell just by touching it), it's fake.

Hm...that's about all I can think of right now. In order to ALWAYS know that your clothing is REAL designer, only buy deisgner clothing from the designer boutiques or stores such as Bloomingdale's, Saks, Barney's, etc.

Er, I think so. I know their pay and conditions are crummy, but I think it's still legal, because they still get paid according to how many they make.
